    Is Neem Oil good for indoor fiddle leaf figs?

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 18 часов назад

      Yes, neem oil based products can help get rid of and protect against any insect or pest issues. Remember to read the instructions as any neem oil left on leaves that then have light on the leaves can burn.

    Hi Claire I like to extend my appreciation to your tutorial of how to propagate my newly acquired Fiddle leaf fig. Your guidance was seamless for me to comply . After cutting the top part of my plant n putting the cut portion into a transparent cup fill with liquid fertilizer. Within 12 days I noticed 3 white roots propping from the base of the stem. To add to my joy the top portion which I have cut begin to bear new stem n 4 baby leaves. Thanks so much for your tutorial. I try to enclose photo of my new baby leave. God bless Jeff Plant Panda from Punggol Spore❤

    Good explanation of notching but she left out the most important key to having your notching work. You MUST cut off the Apical bud at the top of the stem that you are notching! This releases the Auxin hormone that stimulates the dormant buds down below! Without cutting the Apical bud off you have less chances of success! If you do it correctly you will see new growth within two weeks!

    Makes sense! I put this plant I think it’s called the cheese plant, I know this isn’t the actual name but I spray it daily with water which needs humidity to thrive however, big mistake was putting this plant right next to the fiddle figs. Now they are all infested with these fungus gnats. Yuck.. so thank you for this tip! You’re really very knowledgeable about these plants and you have been correct on everything I have asked you about! So Thank you Clair! Ty Friend ❤❤❤

    I just transplanted my fiddle leaf fig. I watered it really well put I don't see the water coming out the bottom . I put orchid bark at the bottom help

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 6 дней назад

      I would keep watering until it drains out the bottom but if it isn't, I would make sure the full soil mix is not getting stuck covering the drainage holes. It might need to be aerated more or better incorporated. For more support, please post inside our helpful community! fiddleleaffigplant.com/community

    Hi Claire, Thanks for all your fantastic videos. I have had success propagating and notching. I notched a little deep into a horizontal branch and it has now splinted down the branch about 6mm, the branch is now leaning because of the weight of the leaves, I have staked it, so the branch doesn't completely break. Would I be best to cut the branch and propagate ? Ideally I would like to keep it as it would ruin the shape, however a branch dying with 11 healthy leaves would also be sad. I'm thinking that more growth would now put too much pressure on the weekend branch. Thanks so much for your advice.

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 6 дней назад

      Good question! I have also notched too deep and accidentally pruned. It sounds like your brach won't re-adhere to itself so I would prune now and propagate the cutting. Branches will grow from just below the point where the cut happened. Your tree will thrive and throw out more branches and leaves!

    Hi Claire. I had a problem with the fungus gnats and have sprayed insecticide. Removed dirt and it seems better but they are still there. I am watering once every 2 weeks. When I water, I do pour the water all around the top of the plant. Should I just pour it along the trunk and not do all the dirt? I water enough to allow it to drip thru the bottom. It is a big pot. It then has 2 weeks to dry out but obviously this has still allowed conditions for gnats.

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 9 дней назад

      It sounds like your watering routine is great. I would continue with the spray until you have gotten rid of the infestation. Another suggestion is to remove the top few inches of soil and redress it with fresh soil so that any larvae from the gnats have been removed.

    We have a tree that is about 7 foot tall, how do you make it grow out branches? or is that a different type of fiddle fig? How tall will they get with a large pot, and pretty good light? Thanks

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 12 дней назад

      Congrats on your thriving fiddle leaf fig! To create branches, you can prune the top. Once you make the cut, the main branch will no longer get taller but the branches that form just below where you make the cut, will. Another method for branching is notching which is successful around 30%+ of the time. If you make 3-4 'notches' in the trunk, branches can grow just below where you made the notch. Here is a helpful video on branching! ruclips.net/video/XPXD6NIipbY/видео.html

    Hi Claire! Thanks for these wonderful tips. I recently got a fiddle leaf fig from IKEA, planted in clay soil which I thought was rather odd. The leaves were drooping today and I instantly knew it needed watering, but what I noticed was that the water comes right out, in the form of mud..and I am not sure if I should repot the plant into a well draining soil, and will this transformation kill it? Would love to know your thoughts! Thanks in advance

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 16 дней назад

      Great question! Sounds like it needs to be repotting into fast draining soil. Clay will suffocate the roots unfortunately. I recommend using 1/2 potting soil 1/2 cactus mix to make the soil light and well draining. After repotting, water the soil well until it is fully soaked and draining out the bottom drainage holes. Then leave it to recover directly in front of and up against your brightest window. There may be a little droopiness after repotting which is normal but it should bounce back!

    Hi, I just bought a fiddle leaf fig on clearance. All the leaves from the middle section fell off and there’s lots of half brown leaves. First thing I’ve done is give it some water and food and just left it be. Not sure what else to do to bring it back. Please help 😊

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant 22 дня назад

      It's normal for plants to drop leaves after being moved from the nursery into a home. The best thing to do is make sure it is sitting directly in front of and up against your brightest window. If direct sunlight is hitting the leaves, use a sheer curtain. Direct sun light can burn leaves in a matter of minutes if the plant is not acclimated. A sheer curtain turns that direct light into indirect light. Water when the top inches of soil are dry and ensure the soil is soaked and draining well out the bottom drainage holes. Hello Great Video. I recently propegated 3 new plants from my single Fiddleleaf tree. They are all surviving and thriving. They've grown about 1 ft (its been maybe a little more than 3months). I used your propegation promoter and seems to work really well! 3 out of 4 cuttings made it. My question is at what point should I try to notch the new ones? They are growing straight up and I'd like to have a multi branch look to them. thanks hope you see this.

    thank you! i'm having the issue where the new leaves are unfurling with with holes because of sticking. It's only on the branch that faces (is liking to grow towards) the west facing window, and only during the few weeks where we actually use our air conditioner when the normally temperate coastal climate shifts into fire season. (Ventura County). I'll put a little mister by this grouping of plants, and I'll mist the new buds. And rotate the plant more often so different branches get to share the joy and intensity of the sun at that window.

    In order to activate those dormant buds where you have notched, you need to to cut off the Apical bud at end of stem. It will send the growth hormone, Auxin down the stem that will stimulate the dormant buds where you just notched. Without cutting the Apical bud this is why notching is normally 50% ineffective. I recently brought back to life my granddaughter dead looking FLF. The stems were completely bare. I clipped the Apical bud and notched down the stems. Within two weeks it had gotten new growth.
